About the Role:

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in our team, aiding in the educational and personal growth of our students. Your primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Delivering tailored support to students with PMLD, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational requirements are fulfilled.
  • Collaborating with the class teacher to design and implement customized learning activities.
  • Fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that addresses the sensory and communication needs of students.
  • Executing individual education plans (IEPs) and personal care strategies.
  • Assisting students with personal care duties, including feeding, toileting, and mobility.
  • Tracking and documenting students' progress while working alongside the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Cooperating closely with other professionals, such as therapists and medical personnel, to provide comprehensive support for students.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with children or young individuals with PMLD.
  • A compassionate, patient, and understanding demeanor, with strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to establish trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a readiness to pursue further training as necessary.
