Durham, United Kingdom Northumbrian Water Full time

About the role

We’ve an amazing new opportunity to become our Performance Controller, reporting into the Governance and Assurance Manager within our Asset Programme Management Office (PMO). We see this role is essential to realising our National Leader ambitions and we’re looking for a motivated reporting and assurance professional, with direct experience of working in a fast-paced Programme Office (PMO) environment.

You’ll be responsible for the development and delivery of accurate and timely performance reporting materials in line with NWL’s monthly reporting calendar, including the preparation, formatting, and quality assurance of reporting outputs and monthly packs. We’re looking for you to be supporting the Performance and Reporting Lead in ensuring compliance with the defined reporting framework across the Project, Programme, and Portfolio community.

We’re looking for you to analyse monthly performance reporting to identify trends, mitigate risks, and draw conclusions or recommendations to support strategic decision-making. You’ll also be accountable for the continuous improvement and ongoing development of performance outputs, such as PowerPoint presentations, Variance reporting, and PowerBI visuals.

You’ll provide an efficient support and assurance service to the Programme and Project Community, reporting financial and schedule performance, as well as progress against risk, benefits, efficiency, and change, including ensuring a clear line of sight and transparency between data sources and upward reporting.

We’re looking for you to uphold NWL reporting standards to ensure the information reported satisfies audit requirements mandated by NWL Corporate Assurance teams, taking accountability for identifying and escalating instances of non-compliance or poor project performance to drive corrective activity.

About you

We’re looking for you to have proven experience in providing a performance reporting function in a project, programme or PMO environment. You’ll have experience of data analysis and information management to support senior level decision making. This includes a keen attention to detail, aptitude for report design and presentation, and communicating findings.

You’ll have a proven track record of using PowerBI reporting tools to inform decision-making and project tools to ensure delivery to time, cost, and quality, along with experience of Microsoft packages, including MS SharePoint, Word, Excel, and tools used for supporting successful delivery of projects and programmes.

We’re looking for you to have proven experience in data transformation, manipulation, and visualisation to effectively communicate findings to a varied audience, along with experience of managing and responding to complex problems in a fast-paced environment, and proven problem-solving capability.

If this sounds like you, then we’d love to see your application come through to us.

About Asset Management & PMO

The Assets Directorate understand the health of our assets, invest wisely and maintain them to continue to provide safe, reliable and resilient services to our customers today and in the future.

We have launched an ambitious transformation programme to drive a real step change in how we deliver our capital projects. This requires the development of a high-performing PMO to provide a central controls function delivering impactful performance reporting, estimating, schedule and risk management, and governance. The overarching objective of the transformation programme is to transition from a hybrid PMO consisting of NWL staff and contractor support, to an entirely inhouse model.
