Job overview

Working Full time : 10 PAs per week

We are looking for an enthusiastic Doctor to join our Upper GI / General surgery team. The post provides an exciting opportunity to further develop your skills with upper GI and general surgery within an enthusiastic and proactive team.
This is a permanent post which will involve independent provision of elective operating lists, upper GI endoscopy, outpatient clinics, as well as supporting the junior doctor team with the care of inpatients, and on call cover at Registrar (middle grade) level.

The position is suitable for: 
• Candidates with ST3+ experience who wish to further develop their general surgical skills as well as develop a level of independent practice
• Current Trust grade Doctors wishing to work towards CESR.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be involved in the delivery of upper GI and emergency general surgery care at the Countess of Chester NHS Foundation trust

The successful candidate will: -
• Participate in a resident middle grade (registrar level) 1:9 rota with Consultant support 
• Take an active role in the day to day running of the department, including management and leadership roles such as rota management and Morbidity and Mortality meeting coordination
• Develop / provide independent elective cover for upper GI / general surgical operating lists, upper GI endoscopy, and general surgical outpatient clinics.
• Actively participate in audits and research projects in the unit. 

Though not a recognised UK training post, the post-holder will have a named, Educational supervisor, and be supported achieving their personal goals.
