Job overview

Fixed term 10 months : Working Full time - 37.5 hours per week

As an Endoscopy Practitioner you will independently carry out Upper (OGDs) and / or Lower GI (flexi sigmoidoscopy & colonoscopy) endoscopy procedures and ensure that referral for these scope types are vetted, which will include undertaking assessments for patients electronically.

You will take responsibility and be accountable for the planning and delivery of all aspects of patient care in relation to this specialist area of practice.

You will take responsibility for your own training and be prepared to undertake training in therapeutic endoscopy, BCSP, and all upper and lower endoscopy scopes i.e. OGD, flexi-sig and colonoscopy.

You will also be responsible for initiating research and audit projects relevant to the speciality and be responsible for the dissemination of findings

Main duties of the job

To be independent in Upper & Lower GI endoscopy and polypectomy following agreed protocols.Be responsible for the assessment of patients within the client group based on highly developed knowledge and advanced clinical skills.Administer conscious sedation in a safe and competent manner working within agreed protocols and guidelines.Manage referrals for OGD’s & colonoscopy which come through the open access, clinic, and two week rule pathway.You are responsible for maintaining active status on the NMC/HPC Register.Act always in accordance with NMC/HPC Code of Conduct and guiding documentsResponsible for ensuring all clinical skills, competencies and knowledge are up to date
