Job overview

Working Full time : 10 Sessions per week

The successful candidate will be a full time substantive Specialty Doctor appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology. Depending on the aptitude of the appointee the post may involve surgery, intravitreal injections, and laser. The department has several subspecialties and opportunities to be involved in these will arise with annual job plan review, where applicable.

This post will assist the department to deliver the required access times for patients

Main duties of the job

Duties will include participating in general outpatient clinics, the eye casualty service and theatre lists. There will be the opportunity to tailor the successful candidate’s timetable in accordance with their experience and interests. Clinical sessions will be consultant led and supervised, and the post includes opportunities for surgical training.

There are regular teaching sessions in medical retina and cornea. There are also opportunities to participate in audit and research projects across the department.
