Job summary
The post holder will ensure the technical safety of the medical equipment being used within the Critical Care Area. To provide clinical assistance for the use of specialised mattresses in the Critical care area. Be. responsible for maintaining a tidy and clean Critical Care Unit daily which will include general cleanliness of equipment and maintenance of clinical cleaning
Main duties of the job
Support the technician team and Unit senior nurses in the cleaning and preparation of bed spaces for admissions to Critical Care
Support the Team and Unit senior nurses in the cleaning and availability of equipment for use on the Unit
Collecting and returning equipment to the Medical Equipment Library and Medical engineering department as necessary Ensuring appropriate levels of disposable stock are maintained within the Unit and at bed spaces
Ensure delivered stores are managed appropriately as assets of the department, that they are put away in the correct areas and that the storerooms are maintained in a clean and tidy order
Ensure pharmacy stores are put away in the appropriate locked areas following delivery Ensure the clinical areas are kept clean and tidy
Assist qualified nurses and support staff as requested with patient care

Job description
Job responsibilities
Clean and set up bed spaces for patient admissions to the Unit
Maintain and clean equipment within the Critical Care Unit ensuring compliance with Unit / Trust policies and protocols
Ensure that essential equipment is available and in a safe and working order
Ensure Transport equipment is checked daily
Ensure O2 Cylinders are checked daily and change cylinders when require
Liaise with Medical Engineering Department ensuring mechanical ventilators are always available for use
Receive faulty equipment from the Unit and send to the relevant department for repair, ensuring appropriate labelling
Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations

Qualifications & Education
Essential
Willingness to undertake in house competency assessment eg skills for health GCSE Maths and English ,Grade C and above or equivalent

NVQ Level 2

Essential
Experience of working in a health care setting Ability to understand the importance of patient's confidentiality. Ability to understand the importance of maintaining a clean and safe environment for the patients.
