Contract: Apprentice Fixed Term Contract (2 years)

Role specifics: You will work towards a Level 3 Data Technician Apprenticeship qualification and as such applicants must not already hold a Data or IT related qualification or similar at level 3 or above.

GCSE’s (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade C/grade 4 or above (or be expected to obtain these by September 2024) or must commit to achieving within the duration of the apprenticeship.

Please be aware that to be eligible for apprenticeship funding you must have a valid and eligible residency status along with the right to work in the UK; to qualify you have to have been a resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years and had permission granted by the UK government to live in the UK and this cannot have been for educational purposes only.

It is a strategic priority for Bolton Council to tackle high levels of unemployment amongst young people in the Bolton borough therefore priority will be given to applications from BL postcodes.

The Role:

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic apprentice who is ready to embark on their initial working journey with Bolton Council. Our apprenticeship posts are designed to support and help you discover and enhance your unique skills and talents. Through hands on experience and personalised mentorship, you will gain the confidence and knowledge to excel in your chosen career path with us.

Don’t worry about experience; we are recruiting on passion and drive. This is an entry-level role that is ideal for a recent school or college leaver aiming to kickstart their career within Bolton Council.

Whilst working towards the successful completion of your apprenticeship programme, you will learn on the job, assisting to provide business and technical development support to our services such as bin collections, grounds maintenance, street cleaning, trading standards and sports pitch management. Working with experienced colleagues you will develop and improve internal processes and maintain vital data management systems to contribute to continual service improvement.


About You

We are searching for an individual who is highly motivated with a desire to learn and develop in this apprenticeship role. The ideal candidate should be able to work effectively both within a team and independently. You will have good time management and communication skills and welcome the challenge of problem solving. If you enjoy IT, are familiar with the use of Microsoft Office and are looking for an opportunity to make a difference, you might be just what we are looking for

Applicants must hold GCSE’s (or equivalent) in maths and English at grade C/grade 4 or above or be expected to obtain these by September 2024.
