We are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to be responsible for co-ordinating all of the volunteering opportunities within our Rehoming Centre's operations.
In this role you will recruit, select and induct new volunteers, providing support throughout their volunteer journey with us. As part of the wider Dogs Trust volunteering strategy, you will play a key role in ensuring best practice is followed, achieving high volunteer standards.
About this job:
As Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll:
- Be a strong relationship manager, you’ll build relationships with staff across the centre, the Volunteering Development team and the wider organisation to deliver an excellent volunteer experience.
- Where volunteers are shared across services, you will liaise with the Supporter Relations Officer, over occasional volunteer support for fundraising activities, the Home from Home Coordinator in support of our home fostering service and, where appropriate, with the local Dogs Trust Charity Shop Managers over any volunteers shared between the shops and the rehoming centre.
About you:
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of customer care and the role of volunteers in an organisation, including their integration, management and motivation. You'll have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong leadership skills with ability to engage and work effectively with large groups of people with varying backgrounds and skill levels. You will also have a positive attitude, methodical approach to work with the ability to work under your own initiative. But above all a passion and commitment to work and the goals of Dogs Trust.

Our rehoming centres house thousands of dogs each year until they are able to find a loving new home and the success of our centres wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated team of staff and volunteers; there is a real family-community within each of our centres. Come rain or shine, our team are out in all weathers to make sure the dogs have the best possible life. Dealing with thousands of visitors each month, our rehoming centres are the face of Dogs Trust and we pride ourselves on our staff providing the very best in customer service.
What you need to know:
A full, manual driving licence is also essential, as driving will be a part of the role.
