Job summary

Birchwood Medical Practice in North Walsham is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated advanced nurse practitioner, on a part time basis, for 32 hours per week over 4 days but offer a degree of flexibility, to join our patient focused and friendly practice.

Your role would be embedded into our existing duty team comprising other ANPs, a physicians associate and a duty GP. The duty GP oversees and supports the triaging and management of the same day emergency appointment list that will form the working day.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrate courageous and critical thinking and should be a caring, compassionate, committed and experienced nurse who, acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care. This care may be in several settings: surgery sites, nursing homes, patients homes or by telephone consultation. Act as an autonomous practitioner working independently and in conjunction with other health care professionals to assess, diagnose and treat the conditions of patients attending within primary care initiating direct referrals as appropriate. Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers, and colleagues to ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence. Develop new and innovative concepts, models, methods, and practices to deliver new and improved primary care services to meet the needs of the population.

We have a very supportive team committed to providing high quality patient care with a strong ethos on team working and integrated care.

Other staff including a clinical pharmacist, mental health workers, chronic disease nurses as well as an experienced administration and management team, are all based at the surgery.

We are a GP training practice and we teach UEA medical students, we put patient care first and we are always looking to continuously improve.

New staff are offered an induction programme and regular debrief and support sessions to enhance their role and professional development within the practice. We take pride in staff development with monthly protected learning and regular clinical governance and MDT meetings.

Qualifications

Essential

Be a registered nurse, holding a current registration with the NMC. Hold a recognised ANP qualification at masters level. Hold an independent prescribing qualification and prescribe safe, effective, and appropriate medication.

Experience

Be forward-thinking and will strive to develop innovative ideas and new ways of working that address the health needs of the population, while motivating and encouraging others to do the same. Deliver a high standard of patient care, using advanced, autonomous clinical skills and a broad, in-depth, theoretical knowledge base. Support members of the multidisciplinary team by providing leadership, education, and training to a range of staff. Provide supervision to the PCN nurse associate.
