Job Advert Location Description

Burston House is located South Norfolk, close to the Suffolk border and in the beautiful Waveney Valley. The hospital provides specialist care to patients with a learning disability, with mental health needs, behaviours that challenge or offending behaviours. The setting includes low secure beds and an exciting recently opened locked rehabilitation service.

Richmond House is an eight-bedded community locked rehabilitation hospital for women and Lombard House is an nine bedded community Locked rehabilitation service for men. Both services provide rehabilitation focused treatment to service users with a history of offending/challenging behaviour who have a learning disability (LD) and other conditions including autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs), personality disorders and mental illnesses

Job Advert Role Description

We are looking to recruit a number of motivated and conscientious individuals with an interest in Mental Health to join our Associate Hospital Manager team at Priory Hospital Burston House, Richmond House and Lombard House. Associate Hospital Managers (AHMs) are a panel appointed specially to look at whether people should be discharged from the Mental Health Act. AHMs are accountable to the Hospital 

In this important role you will participate as a panel member, ensuring that patients’ rights are fully explored and upheld. This will require the consideration of reports from the clinicians involved in the patient’s care, and the views of the patient, before determining whether the criteria for detention are met.

AHMs are remunerated on a sessional basis and full training will be provided for the role. Appointment will initially be for one year, and this may be renewed on a three yearly basis pending successful completion of appraisals and review.

AHM hearings are currently being carried out both on site and virtually via video conference. Therefore, sufficient IT skills to attend via Microsoft Teams is essential.

Successful applicants should ensure that they are able to attend on site hearing and are able to travel to Diss, Harleston or Little Ellingham, near Attleborough. Travel expense fees will be paid when a face to face/On site hearing is held. Currently, we would be unable to progress applications from candidates who can only conduct virtual meetings
