The shift pattern for this position is Mon-Fri, 9am until 5pm

 (Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join the Perinatal Mental Health Service as a Community Staff Nurse (Band 5).

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Community Staff Nurse will participate in the assessment of those referred into our service which includes the possible impact of a woman’s mental health of an unborn baby or infant, risk identification and the implementation of evidence-based treatment and interventions working in partnership with patients, carers and other health professionals in line with agreed standards and clinical policies and without direct supervision.

The Community Staff Nurse will:

Participate in regular caseload supervision with a named Community Charge Nurse (Band 6) as within their nursing role, the Community Staff Nurse will be responsible for the management of their own community caseload which includes admitting, assessing, care planning and discharging patients as appropriate in collaboration with other team members. Be involved in supervising the practice of and/or demonstrating practice and procedures to Student Nurses and other disciplines such as Nursery Nurses. Be an active participant in our Perinatal Advice Line which acts upon referrals from other health professionals and offers a consultancy service to other health professionals on perinatal mental health issues.

The Perinatal Mental Health Services provides a Community Psychiatric Nursing (CPN) service for patients residing within the Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS catchment area who are experiencing moderate to severe symptoms of illness during the perinatal period.

The service aim to provide a comprehensive and individualised package of care for the patient and infant within the patient’s family and community environment while also providing psychiatric liaison to the health board’s maternity units.

Training and development opportunities are promoted within the team to ensure our team is efficiently skilled and supported to work in this challenging clinical speciality.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
