Functional Skills Tutor

The Role
As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of functional skills to our learners at HMYOI Werrington. You will be supported by your Curriculum Manager and teaching colleagues to deliver to children aged 15 -17 years. This in an opportunity to work in a challenging but extremely rewarding environment. You should either hold or be willing to work towards our fully funded qualifications e.g. Level 5 PGCE, Cert Ed, DTTLS, QTS or QTLS.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering and reviewing comprehensive lesson plans for all sessions that address the training needs of the group and embedding literacy, numeracy, language and personal development.
- Actively gaining feedback from learners and other sources, reviewing & improving curriculum content accordingly.
- Engaging and motivating both individuals and learner groups to maintain interest
- Completing all of the necessary administration e.g. registers, enrolment forms, ILPs, reviews, Awarding Body documentation as determined by external and internal requirements.
- Working with colleagues to assist learners’ progression towards qualifications, and movement into employment.
- Complying with all security and reporting requirements as directed by HMYOI Werrington
- Continually reviewing our learner’s progression to ensure that the training continues to meet their identified needs.
