Assistant GL Accountant

This position would suit someone in the early stages of their accountancy journey, who is or is close to being AAT qualified, or just starting ACCA or CIMA. A fully paid study package is available with a study agreement.
Please note this role is not open to agencies.
The main purpose of this role is to ensure the timely and accurate production of Management Accounts. This will include the production of balance sheet reconciliations to strict deadlines and ensure reconciling items are dealt with promptly and standing journals updated.
Our US parent company requires a well-controlled environment for SOX compliance so you must be able to follow agreed processes consistently whilst having the confidence to suggest process improvements if you see them. The role will require both written and verbal communication to be clear to financial and non-financial staff at all levels in the business.
As an Assistant General Ledger Accountant at GES, you will:
• Prepare and enter cashbook journals.
• Prepare and enter allocated month end journals.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline.
• Support the Field Finance and FP&A teams to produce their forecasts and reporting.
• Load month-end submissions into HFM, complete validation checks for GES US.
• Deal with queries and data requests from internal and external audit, and tax departments.
About You:
You will
• Have an outgoing personality, a problem-solving mentality and attention to detail.
• Be Part-Qualified and actively studying with AAT, CIMA or ACCA
• Be able to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment to tight deadlines.
• Have experience of a wide range of Finance Department work
• Enjoy hybrid working but be able to attend the office at short notice – ideally less than an hour’s commute to the NEC.

Salary
This role offers a competitive salary, dependent on experience. We operate a reward strategy based on our team members receiving a salary that best reflects their experience and skill level.
Hours of work
Normal working hours are Monday to Friday – 5pm. On occasion you may be required to work evenings and weekends during busy periods to meet the demands of the business.
Annual leave
Our holiday entitlement is days per annum (plus bank holidays and statutory public holidays).
