We are currently hiring a Programme Manager. This is a new and exciting role which will help shape the way we work globally across Tunstall. This role offers hybrid working and can be based at either our Manchester or Malmo (Sweden) offices.

What will you be doing in this role?

The Programme Manager role within Tunstall Healthcare is responsible for delivery of multiple interdependent projects designed to collectively achieve a critical strategic outcome. The role will not only be responsible for delivery of projects within the programme to time, cost and quality expectations but also to provide credible senior level thinking in the shaping, design, structure and scope of the overall Programme.

The Ideal candidate:

You will have proven experience as a Programme Manager. You should be an effective people leader, with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, able to clarify and communicate complex issues. You will be a team player, proactive by nature, able to work on your own initiative.

Being flexible in your approach and able to develop effective solutions is vital to the success of this role.

Required skills and experience

  • Demonstrable experience of managing, influencing and collaborating across multiple senior stakeholders and an ability to build credibility whilst constructively resolving issues of scope, solution, priorities and alignment.
  • Leadership attributes that generate confidence across all levels and functions in ability to deliver large complex Programmes of change incorporating both technology and business elements.
  • Experience of coaching Project Managers to ensure optimum delivery performance.
  • Ability to remain strong and focused under intense pressure.
  • Highly skilled at verbal and written communication and the ability to convey complex matters in terms that different audiences will understand and support.
  • Experience of applying integrated Waterfall and Agile approaches and demonstrate a Lean mindset to the delivery of change.
  • Provide evidence of relevant Project Management Qualification e.g. Prince II/PMP
  • Provide evidence of relevant Project Management experience
  • Good level of proficiency using Project Management software such as MSP or Smartsheets and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop roadmaps and plan a Programme of multiple Projects

Required competencies

  • Demonstrate leadership skills through leading a matrix or virtual team of Project, product, business and technical SMEs and become a role model and ambassador for highly professional and effective Change Delivery capabilities and behaviours.
  • Apply skills and experience to lead and recommend developments and improvement that build change delivery capabilities of the project teams and wider Tunstall community, in conjunction with the Group Change Centre of Excellence and Community of Practice, advocating and owning approved project/change management skills and methodologies.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Tunstall’s Values and seek opportunities for personal development and growth.
  • Demonstrate a positive ‘can-do’ attitude’ and contribute to an energetic and motivated team environment.
  • Display strong problem-solving acumen; taking ownership of issues and relentlessly drive to resolution whilst acting as an escalation point for Project Managers allocated to the Programme or Portfolio.
  • Provide potential resolutions to problems, project changes and resource constraints across the allocated Programme or Portfolio.
  • Must have good organisation and planning skills and be confident working across multiple functions, geographies and levels of the organisation.
  • A good team player and an ambassador for the Group Change function, acting with integrity, honesty and professionalism at all times.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience of leading and delivering large, complex change programmes within the health sector and/or related to significant transition from analogue to digital solutions and capabilities

Some of your key day to day tasks will be…

Project Initiation

  • Document a roadmap of developments, working with relevant stakeholders, required to fulfil the strategic ambitions and goals of the Programme or Portfolio and provide advice, guidance and recommendations on the optimum approach and Programme or Portfolio construct to achieve the agreed strategic outcomes.
  • Ensure a documented and approved Business Case of acceptable quality and completeness is in place for all projects within the allocated Programme or Portfolio, including a clear statement of business value and strategic contribution.
  • Ensure a documented and approved statement of Scope and Deliverables is in place for each of the approved Projects within the Programme or Portfolio and that these are appropriate to meet the Programme or Portfolios strategic objectives, outcomes and benefits.
  • Ensure all relevant stakeholders are aligned and actively supportive of the Programme scope, structure and priority.

Project Delivery

  • Accountable for rigorous and consistent application of the approved Tunstall Project Delivery Methodology including required Governance and Gated approvals and compliance to BSI Accreditation requirements.
  • Document, maintain and manage the delivery of all Projects within the Programme or Portfolio to baselined milestone plans incorporating delivery approach, key milestones/critical path and work packages, ensuring clear accountability and ownership across required business functions and relevant stakeholders and working in conjunction with Project Managers allocated to the Programme or Portfolio
  • Manage directly and where necessary provide active support to allocated Project Managers ensuring that all Risks, Actions, Issues, Dependencies and Decisions (RAID) associated with delivery of Projects within the Programme or Portfolio are managed effectively and efficiently and provide a documented Programme or Portfolio level view of the Risks, Issues, Dependencies and Decisions.
  • Ensure any changes to scope against Projects within the Programme or Portfolio are documented, approved, impact assessed and change controlled into relevant Programme or Portfolio documentation ensuring prescribed document version control is applied and associated communication of changes undertaken.
  • Ensure that all project collateral produced is in line with Tunstall’s change methodologies, ISO:9001 and other compliance standards.
  • Ensure a full resource profile is documented and maintained for each allocated Programme or Portfolio, working with allocated Project Managers and relevant functional resource owners, to support delivery of the baselined Project plans with the Programme or Portfolio and raise/escalate resolution of any resource gaps in a timely manner to minimise adverse impact to delivery of the baselined plan.

Stakeholder Management

  • Develop an understanding of the needs of stakeholders and work to build a broad base of professional and productive stakeholder relationships.
  • Engage stakeholders across all required functions and geographies and across all levels of Tunstall through tailored and effective communication and reporting.
  • Harness and direct any required support, completion of actions and decision making in a timely manner from Project stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective delivery of Projects within the allocated Programme or Portfolio.
  • Effectively manage any conflict between stakeholders, functions or staff members associated with delivery of the Projects within the allocated Programme or Portfolio, escalating where necessary in a timely manner
  • Where appropriate, work with Tunstall’s procurement process to engage suppliers/partners in delivery of Projects within the allocated Programme or Portfolio

Budgets

  • Document, maintain and report on a high level summary of forecast costs required to deliver the allocated Programme or Portfolio and obtain approval of an associated Programme or Portfolio delivery budget, including details of how that Programme or Portfolio budget is allocated across the relevant Projects and ensure timely escalation of any forecast cost variances.

Project Evaluation

  • Working with the Tunstall PMO function and allocated Project Managers, ensure an end of project evaluation is completed to assess how well the project was managed and ensure lessons have been documented and factored in to future Projects and the associated Tunstall Project delivery methodology.
  • Develop an understanding of the business & commercial environment into which the Project is delivering and identify any gaps, Risks or Issues as required.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of key business metrics and KPIs relevant to the allocated Programme or Portfolio and ensure impacts of each Project delivery outcomes within the allocated Programme or Portfolio on relevant business metrics and KPI's can be applied, measured and validated.

Ensure that all Projects and their associated Project teams within the allocated Programme or Portfolio, focus on the customer and end users to ensure that solutions remain true to their needs
