Job summary

The Patch Associate GP Dean will assist and work with the Primary Care Dean and the Head of School for General Practice to ensure the delivery of safe and compassionate care to patients through the delivery of high-quality GP specialty training. The postholder will have local responsibility for the co-ordination, provision and management of postgraduate general practice training activities within West Surrey, and more widely across Kent, Surrey & Sussex.

In addition, the postholder will have responsibilities with respect to the wider primary care workforce, supporting the development of the Primary Care workforce in West Surrey through the promotion of multi-professional education, recruitment and retention initiatives and in supporting at system level the activities of the Training Hub and developing Primary Care School.

The successful applicant will be expected to have a medical background and experience of education in a community or primary care setting and remain registered with a license to practice.

Main duties of the job

To support the Primary Care Dean and Head of GP School, and Training Hub Associate Deans, Patch Associate GP Deans will work across the spectrum of health and where relevant, social care, within the context of a team, so that the provision of education reflects changing service will deliver an integrated workforce comprising individuals from a spectrum of professional and other backgrounds.

Desirable

Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education Awareness of funding streams for healthcare education Understanding of current health, social care and education policy Good working knowledge of the NHS including its structures and processes

Qualifications and Training

Essential

Medical practitioner registered with the GMC with a current license to practice Evidence of professional development as an educator / leader Educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate, or presently undertaking an approved and validated course to obtain at the earliest opportunity

Higher educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate or Masters in medical education
