SEN Support Officer

Teaching Personnel is currently working with one of our Partnership Schools and they are excited to share that they are seeking full-time Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Officers to join their expanding team.

We are looking for individuals with a strong understanding of SEN, based in or around the Towcester/Silverstone area.
As this role may require travelling to our Partnership School, applicants must have access to a car and a willingness to transport students if needed. If you are based in surrounding areas, please refer to the bottom of this vacancy for commute times by car.
This is a full-time position, working from 8:30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday during term time. We are currently accepting applications for an immediate start (November 2024) or for roles starting after a suitable notice period.
Relevant professional or personal experience in SEN is required for this role.
The SEN support officer will work alongside the SENCO to:
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school
- Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability
- Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
- Deliver small sections of the learning programme to individual pupils, as directed by the teaching/wellbeing staff.
- Supervise and support pupils during break and lunch times, encouraging them to interact with others in a positive manner, promoting their own self esteem.
- Undertake the duties associated with being a wellbeing and learning assistant, if required.
- Create and maintain a purposeful and supportive environment for pupils.
- Implement strategies to support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, developing an understanding of their Special Educational Needs.
- Work as part of a team to manage behaviour positively and in line with each pupil’s Behaviour Support Plan.
This job description reflects the major tasks to be carried out by the post holder and identifies a level of responsibility at which they will be required to work. In the interests of effective working, the major tasks may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changing needs and circumstances. Such reviews and any consequential changes will be carried out in consultation with the post holder.
ESSENTIAL QUALITIES
- Good general standard of education (GCSE Grade 4/C in English and Maths or equivalent)
- Experience working with children and young people
- Ability to drive
- Willingness to transport children and young people in your own car
- The ability to identify risks and implement strategies to minimise those risks
- The genuine desire to make a positive difference and contribution to the lives of young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
