About Us:

Role Overview:

Our Service at  Brixton Hill  mainly provides support services to Looked After Children (LAC) and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). It is a 6 bed emergency timeout accommodation provision for young adults ages 16-17 year old.

The Service provides 24-hour emergency bed spaces for LACs and UASCs, with an average of 4 weeks stay whilst engaging with family mediation to return home or move to more long-term accommodation.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is interested in working with us as a  Young People Support Worker . This exciting job will avail you the opportunity to manage a caseload of 4-5 residents, addressing their physical, emotional, social and behavioural needs; supporting them to progress towards independence.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in the service at all times, including using safeguarding and emergency alert procedures as applicable. Carry a small caseload of clients, you will take responsibility, alongside the team, for the wellbeing and day to day support of all clients in the services. Lead on risk and needs assessment and support planning for your key clients and contribute to ongoing needs and risk assessment of other clients in the service. Involve clients in the decisions made about them and encourage participation in Depaul’s wider community programme of activities.

Please note that this job opportunity is offered as a full-time (37.5 hours a week), permanent role.

What We Are Looking For – Person Specification:

Experience of working with clients with mental health and or drug/alcohol dependency issues. Ability to work with clients whose behaviour may be personally challenging. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships and boundaries with clients. Experience working in partnership with multi agency teams, including social workers, immigration and mental health professionals. A knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments and Support Planning. Ability to demonstrate clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures. Effective collaborative working
