Homelessness Support Worker (Ongoing temp with temp to perm potential)

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit Homelessness Support Workers on behalf of our client who are a well-established housing services provider, specialising in supported accommodation nationwide. This role is based in Liverpool, close to the city centre and will be on an ongoing, temporary basis with temp to perm potential for the right candidate and hourly rates up to £17.00 per hour. 
This is a 37.5 hour per week contract, with a mixture of early, late and weekend shifts on a rolling rota

Your new role 

  • You'll be responsible for your own caseload of clients and acting as a key worker, carrying out assessments of risk and need with new applicants and co-producing support plans that encourage & motivate individuals to achieve their goals and aspirations. 
  • Providing service users with information on housing options, assisting with applications for accommodation and acting as an advocate on their behalf 
  • Ensuring service users receive the necessary support to help with their move, including liaising with external services for things such as housing benefits & grants 
  • Ensuring service users are fully aware of their responsibilities in relation to their licence agreement, dealing with any issues of non-compliance including low level ASB, nuisance and arrears 
  • Ensuring a quick turnaround on void properties, conducting routine health & safety checks including fire alarms and reporting any required repairs
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external agencies such as Local Authorities, Benefit Agencies, Social Services and Health Professionals
  • Keeping accurate and up-to-date client records & reports
What you'll need to succeed 
  • Experience of working in a supported housing setting with people who are facing homelessness 
  • Ability to understand, review and implement individual action plans and assessments of need/risk 
  • Knowledge and understanding of benefits system & application process, as well as housing options and Property Pool 
  • Ability to deal with difficult and complex situations in a sensitive manner
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
