Duration: 12 weeks commencing June 2025
Location: Perth, Inverness or Glasgow
Salary: Circa £23,422 per annum (pro-rata)

What is the role?
As a member of the Regulation team you will help the wider SSEN Transmission business understand the opportunities and barriers to delivering projects, new services, and consumer outcomes by translating existing policies and regulations and identifying upcoming reforms. You will work across a range of policy areas including, price controls, industry reform and wider net zero policy. You will support the team in the development and implementation of broader work packages, including the ASTI framework submissions and the enduring regulatory price controls .
Working as part of our multi-disciplined teams, we have a range of opportunities for students to support projects across our Transmission business. We're at the forefront of high-profile projects which are ensuring our transmission network is structurally sound, operating safely and efficiently and providing sustainable and reliable energy to all.

Our summer placement students work collaboratively in a variety of contexts, while also taking ownership of their role by working under their own direction to drive action forward. There will be networking and presentation opportunities, specialist sessions and support from our graduates.
What do I need?
To be considered for the role, you will be studying a degree in Economics, Law, Engineering, Sciences, or Politics.
Our opportunities are open to students who are in their 2nd year of their degree onwards and will graduate between 2026 and 2028.
We'd love you to have some practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for the energy sector, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges and should have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us.
