About the Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our Transmission team as a Summer Placement student. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project management, working on real-world projects that contribute to our goal of delivering a safe and reliable supply of electricity to the communities we serve.

Our Transmission team is responsible for owning and operating the electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland, transporting energy from where it is generated to where it is needed. We are committed to playing a critical role in the transition to a low-carbon future, developing, building, maintaining, and operating a network for net zero.

About the Project

As a Summer Placement student, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, including the Eastern Green Link (EGL) project, a joint venture between SSEN Transmission and National Grid Electricity Transmission. This project involves the delivery of a 2GW HVDC link from Peterhead in the northeast of Scotland to Drax at Wren Hall in North Yorkshire, England, with associated AC onshore works.

You will work closely with our project managers and teams to plan, execute, and monitor projects during the refinement and construction phases. This will involve collaborating with contractors, developing an understanding of our safety culture and values, and working in a team to deliver projects to time, cost, and quality requirements.

We are looking for students studying electrical, mechanical, civil engineering, project management, construction management, or a STEM-related degree.
