We are looking for an enthusiastic and diligent Senior Corporate Counsel to join our award-winning team in Edinburgh, reporting to our Director – Corporate, Legal.
Our ideal candidate will be aware of, and have experience implementing, corporate and governance processes, and appreciate the issues affecting companies of our size, scale and global reach. Experience of both transactional and general advisory work would be helpful. You will be familiar with providing commercially focused and astute advice to fast-paced businesses, and with partnering with stakeholders across organisations to secure the right outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing a broad spectrum of legal and business advice to business partners, including:
Advising on a wide range of corporate matters, both intragroup and with third parties, covering issues such as our global entity strategy, corporate disclosures, and governance framework. Taking the lead and/or supporting on M&A transactions as they arise. Responsibility for working with our outsourced advisers to ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements for all our global entities. Involvement in share schemes arrangements and capital management matters. Monitoring use of intellectual property assets and liaising internally and externally on portfolio management and IP strategy. Providing legal advice and supporting on other commercial, product, privacy, employment, public affairs and sustainability matters as needed across our wider legal team. Engaging directly and building trusted relationships with Commercial, Finance, Reward, Marketing and other teams in the business, operating as lead counsel on specific projects and ongoing workstreams, and having a key role in the implementation of Skyscanner’s strategy. Helping to build our corporate processes and legal / governance frameworks with third parties, implementing innovative ideas and developing business models, Supporting Skyscanner’s commitment to maintaining a traveller-first product, and a diverse and inclusive workplace with culture and values at its core.About you:
A practising solicitor with 3-5 years of experience, either in-house or in private practice. Great interpersonal and communication skills with the capability to build excellent relationships, communicate effectively across the business and generate consensus. An ability to work proactively and autonomously in a fast-paced, internet economy business, prioritising as necessary – you will be skilled at dealing with ambiguity and enjoy problem solving. You take a strategic, pragmatic and commercially robust approach to problems, using your exceptional business judgment to focus on achieving a good outcome for our partners. A strategic, commercial thinker with strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiating capabilities, who is able to tackle problems and deliver results. You have excellent time management and organisational skills, with an ability to work on multiple matters at once, across multiple jurisdictions, while meeting deadlines under pressure. You will be comfortable working on a broad range of matters and supporting other functions within the legal team where needed. Qualification as a solicitor in Scotland or England and Wales and fluency in English is essential.
