Job summary

To provide and embed a supportive, motivational and compassionate leadership culture across the EOC This role is a key leadership role in supporting EEAST in continuing our journey and consistently deliver our vision and values.

This role will be required to work within the EOC's and hybrid working. The position will be based at Bedford, Norwich and Chelmsford EOC.

This role attracts Section 2 unsocial and the EOC Clinical Workforce Managers will be required to work weekends (1 in every 3) and no night working.

Main duties of the job

Accountable to the EOC Senior Managers Clinical Services and responsible for management of a defined group of staff within their portfolio of responsibility. This will include some line management functions of EOC based teams which may include clinical staff and non-clinical EOC staff.

The EOC Clinical Workforce Manager (CWM) is responsible for ensuring their teams maintain compliance with all relevant key quality and workforce requirements. The role will be accountable for a range of key performance indicators for groups of multi-disciplinary teams.

The CWM will work autonomously providing working cover which will ensure continuity of management and providing high quality visible leadership. This will the EOC Clinical Workforce Manager to receive the appropriate tactical commander education.

The CWM will operate flexibly across the defined area of responsibility and they will provide support, guidance and advice to all staff based at, or visiting, the EOCs. The role will provide the named leadership point of contact (within area of responsibility) for all staff related issues and be an interface with local stakeholders and external agencies as required.

EEAST employs over 5,000 staff with a further 1,000+ volunteers who between them cover 7,500 square miles and care for a population of more than 6 million.

Our three control rooms in Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Essex handle more than 1 million 999 calls every year, over 2,500 calls a day.

We manage a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles including double staffed ambulances, rapid response cars, operational commander response vehicles, patient transport and support service vehicles.

The East of England works alongside 17 Acute Trusts with Accident & Emergency services and a Major Trauma Centre in Cambridge. Access is available to neighbouring MTCs such as those in London.

The role will provide ongoing support and post-incident feedback to EOC team after operational and clinical events. The role will also work in close partnership with team managers to ensure that staff supervision, appraisal, education and development requires are consistently delivered

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Management Qualification or postgraduate degree level or equivalent level of relevant exposure and experience acquired within a similar environmentironment A Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Nursing or Paramedic Science (IHCD)

Desirable

A first line Managers qualification equivalent to ILM level 4 or above

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Ability to lead, motivate, coach and manage teams successfully Ability to manage time and to work to deadlines Ability to collate and analyse data in order to produce robust management reports

Desirable

Making and owning autonomous decisions in fast paced highly pressurised environments to exacting deadlines.

Experience of working in a management role within a Health Care setting delivering a call centre service.
