A Primary School in Blackburn are seeking an experienced teaching assistant to work in the Year 5 class until February half-term, with the potential to be extended until the end of the academic year. This position is ideal for an individual looking for a full-time role in the Blackburn area. As the successful applicant, you will be responsible for taking on a range of duties including supporting lower attaining children in Maths and English, leading small group interventions, managing classroom behaviour, and building relationships with pupils.

The school is larger than average primary school. The children tend to arrive from challenging backgrounds and so the entry level is lower than National Average particularly for Maths, Reading and Writing. The class teacher would be planning small group intervention sessions for you to lead three afternoons a week therefore extensive knowledge of the Year 5 curriculum would be desirable. The Head teacher has commented that they would like to appoint a Teaching Assistant who is committed, and they would be keen to meet with suitable candidates who are interested in the role.

The Head Teacher is looking for the following:

-          Level 2 or above qualification

-          An experienced KS2 Practitioner

-          Confident with delivering engaging interventions

-          Ability to work independently or part of a team

-          Superb behaviour management
