Central Belt, United Kingdom Scottish Water Full time

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

It’s not every job where you make a difference for the people of Scotland. But it’s what’s behind every job here. The work we do keeps Scotland’s water flowing, from reservoir to tap – and from sewer to treatment plant.

We are looking for a Senior Digital Specialist within our Product Relationship Specialist (PRS) team to work closely with our partners, vendors, and business stakeholders in the customer service area to identify and drive enhancements to business processes that can be or are digitally enabled.

The role

Supporting the PRS, the Senior Digital Specialist will lead on future Digital product releases and upgrades, managing the overall throughput of new demand and minor enhancements for the aligned product.

What you'll be doing

The role will perform the following tasks and activities:

Work with business process owners to understand and map the existing business processes, using tools and techniques such as interviews, observations, surveys, workshops, and process mapping.

Identify the gaps and opportunities for digital improvements in the existing business processes.

Outline the to-be process based on the best practices and capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics 365 & Power Platform, using tools and techniques such as user stories, acceptance criteria, wireframes, and prototypes.

Assist the Product Relationship Specialist in managing the backlog, prioritizing the user stories, communicating with the stakeholders, and facilitating the agile ceremonies for new demand/enhancements.

Learn and understand internal governance, IT and change management processes.

Learn the product and associated tools to upskill and support in making configuration changes, whilst following IT Change Management and governance practices.

Act as a Product expert for Microsoft Dynamics 365, managing aspects of the platform as a whole and providing approvals in Service Now for aspects such access requests & changes.

Suggest and carry forward improvements to support Digital and wider business initiatives, such as “Zero Preventable Incidents”

Understand the integrations between Microsoft Dynamics 365 and our other products, building resiliency across all PRSs and the products they manage.

The specialist will obtain certifications in Microsoft Dynamics 365/Power Platform to fully understand the product capabilities and to be able to implement configuration changes themselves. They will be expected to develop skills in product management, stakeholder engagement, and process mapping. Development through attending conferences and peer engagement is also encouraged. The skills gained through this role will be transferable, and thus a great opportunity for personal development, whilst instilling trust & delivering benefit to the role’s capabilities in Scottish Water.

The Senior Digital Specialist role in the PRS team aims to align business processes with system capabilities, improve user satisfaction and adoption of the product, reduce deployment time and costs, and foster collaboration and transparency between Digital and Scottish Water business teams. Supporting the Product Relationship Specialist, the role will enhance value delivery, efficiency, and establish service resilience in the PRS capability. The PRS capability focuses on leveraging digital products to meet business goals, supporting the shift from project-based thinking to continuous improvement.

What you will need

A proactive and self-driven attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow in the digital space.

A keen interest in digital trends, platforms, and technologies.

The ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical ideas clearly to an audience who may not have the same technical literacy.

A focus on understanding and meeting the needs of stakeholders.

Any previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or product management is desirable but not essential.

Looking out for you

While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays), and the opportunity to buy up to five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. As for the everyday, we embrace flexible working.

For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), as well as life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not-so-small print

This role will be a Grade 7 If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £41,000. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £51,970.

The team is predominantly based in the Central Belt but applications from all areas of Scotland will be considered as the role is flexible on location with a hybrid online/office workload.

If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we’ll be accepting applications until midnight on the 31st July 2024

Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Don’t worry - we’ll ask your permission before starting these checks.

A few final things worth knowing…

Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If you’re interested in this job, but don’t tick all the boxes, apply anyway We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So don’t rule yourself out

Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. We’re very used to making adjustments, so please don’t be afraid to ask.

As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it’s important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don’t already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.

Finally (finally), candidates who haven’t submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You won’t need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted.
