Hours: 8:00-15:30 Monday to Thursday and 8:00-12:30 on Friday

Job Summary:

Bookmark Education have partnered with a school in the Bolton area to recruit a permanent DT Technician. The school are part of a multi-academy trust. The school are looking for an experienced DT Technician to be part of a team of technology team supporting both DT staff and students at key stages 3-4. The primary role will be to prepare materials and resources and provide professional technical support to enhance the delivery of the curriculum by the DT department. The DT department is a strong department who work collaboratively and are fully supportive of both staff and students. The ideal candidate should have experience working with basic machinery.

School DT Department Information:

The schools Design Technology Department will comprise Textiles, Resistant Materials, Electronics and Food Technology. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated professional who has a real love for their subject area. The successful candidate will teach Food Technology to Key Stages 3, and 4. Any experience in this subject would be advantageous but not essential as all training will be provided. The ability to teach another specialism within Design Technology would be an advantage.

DT is taught under the umbrella of the Technology area. Students enjoy a varied and creative curriculum experience across Key Stage 3 that gives them access to the full range of skills. In year 10, students can opt to choose from our wide range of subjects that includes Art, Food and Textiles. Each of the GCSE subjects provides wide ranging experiences of using and applying a range of techniques and skills associated with each of the specialisms. The students study stimulating contextual source materials and information on significant artists, designers and creatives. Skills, knowledge and understanding are built up within the classroom from year 7 that allow students to respond independently to design briefs and themes. All the GCSE subjects offered are popular choices at BMGS with a track record of high levels of progress and attainment. Year on year, the Technology Department achieves consistently excellent results and as a result is growing rapidly. The Department has a range of specialist rooms, technology, equipment, and materials at its disposal, including access to iPads and an IT suite. We are proud to offer our students a range of enrichment opportunities both on and off site, including participation in gallery workshops, workshops with artists and designers and visits to galleries and museums.

Requirements:

• Qualifications to A Level or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
• Experience working with a range of Art and/or Design Technology equipment and resources.
• Experience or solid understanding of working as a technician in a school or educational establishment, undertaking a range of practical tasks.
