Job summary

The East Midlands Planned Care Centre (EMPCC) is a vibrant new Elective Care Hub opening December 2024. EMPCC will provide a Multi - professional approach providing the right care in right place by a skilled and expert team. We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic individual, who thrives in a busy environment to join our Clinical Support Worker team in the EMPCC at the Leicester General.

Main duties of the job

Working as a Clinical Support worker you would be providing portering, administrative and domestic services, and supporting the flow of clinics and helping the wider clinical team.

We have a range of full time and part time jobs available.

Shifts will initially be between 0800-1800 Monday to Saturday, however evening and Sunday working will be bought in eventually.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Portering

To transport patients around the site to and from outpatients, ensuring they arrive in a safe and timely fashion

Conveyance and movement of patients by wheelchair, trolley, bed etc. including assisting clinical staff within the outpatient areas

To collect and clean wheelchairs, trolley & beds as required

To be responsible for the collection and delivery of equipment requiring repair to and from the medical physics department

To collect and return Liquid Nitrogen as required

To be responsible for replacing the oxygen cylinders as requested by the trained nurse.

Housekeeping/Domestic Services

To be responsible for maintaining a suitable stock level of paperwork and consumables using the appropriate method of ordering whether that be manual or via an IT system

To replenish clinic room paperwork including investigation request forms as required throughout the day. To collect and deliver paperwork and consumables as required

To carry out delegated specific and unsupervised duties in support of the department including recording fridge temperatures, cleaning of department fridges. This list is not exhaustive and the post holder may be asking to clean other items as required

To carry out water flushing and recording duties as required for health and safety reasons

To ensure that computers, monitors and other IT equipment is kept clean and report faulty equipment as necessary.

To carry out duties consistent with individual patient wishes, maintaining privacy and dignity and to have an understanding of the guidance on same sex awareness and recognising cultural diversity and needs

To assist in maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors reporting any incidents or potential hazards to the nurse in charge

To ensure that instruments are delivered to the appropriate sterile services collection points across UHL

To deliver prescriptions and collect medication for patients that require assistance, passing to the relevant nurse for dispensing

To collect snack boxes from catering services for patients.

Prepare and distribute water and/or other refreshments to patients, as required

Ensure housekeeping and day to day management of the kitchen is maintained in that:

o The area, including any utensils, is clean and fit for use.

o The refrigerator temperature is recorded daily.

o Any consumable items are properly stored and within date.

o Drinks machines and water coolers are cleaned and checked as per policy and guidelines at Hospital Site.

Monitor the adequacy of linen deliveries, reporting defects or inadequate supplies to the sister or nurse in charge, change curtains around couches as required

Keep the sluice and utility areas tidy and bag soiled linen in accordance with Trust policy

To clean fans in the area

To be responsible for the daily quality control checking of the blood glucose according to the manufacturers instructions and recording these checks in the appropriate way

To act at all times in a responsible and safe manner and encourage a warm and welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors
