Come and work with the Early Supported Discharge Service delivering therapy to people who have had a stroke. We are looking to recruit a full time Permanent Band 3 Therapy Support Worker. This would be based at Leicester General Hospital but would involve travel out to patient’s homes in order to deliver rehabilitation to people who have had a recent stroke. The team is called the Early Supported Discharge Service (ESDS) and they provide intensive therapy to patients coming out of hospital.
The service is time limited to 6 weeks and is aimed at ensuring the patient can manage at home and continue to make significant improvements in terms of physical activity, functional tasks, speech and communication, social activities and work related activities.

The ESDS team are all passionate about providing an outstanding service and consistently receive excellent feedback from the patients and their carer’s. To ensure standards remain high there is a comprehensive induction package provided for new staff and regular teaching and developmental opportunities offered on a weekly basis.
You will be expected to complete the National Care Certificate if you do not have this already. This will be supported and you will complete it in work time. All staff are offered regular supervision sessions and appraisals. The service is thoroughly audited and has regular service reviews.
In order to be shortlisted for this post you must have
- A full UK driving licence
- A well maintained car that can be used for work on a daily basis
- GCSE English and maths at grade C or above (or equivalent).
- Enthusiasm for this type of work.
We are also looking for someone that can
- Work alone and in a team.
- Communicate effectively (both written and verbally)
- Has some experience in a caring role. Therapy experience would be preferred but not essential.
- Basic computing skills
