You will support initiatives to set, change and monitor professional and clinical standards and influence the quality of care. The facilitation and influencing of staff across organisational and professional boundaries is a key aspect of this role. You will have the opportunity to work with all specialties, corporate teams and all disciplines of staff.

Main duties of the job

Supporting a number of Trust priorities, key objectives, strategic goals and programmes of work you will work collaboratively with nursing, allied health professionals, health care scientists and Midwifery staff. This will include work such as:

* Exploring, supporting and facilitating change in clinical practices

* Supporting the development of policy, procedures and processes; setting standards

* Supporting the development of expanded practice and new ways of working

* Monitoring clinical care by gathering relevant data through performing audits, observations of care, benchmarking and quality assurance visits

* Providing analysis, interpretation and production of reports

You will work agreed core hours predominantly Monday to Friday and be based in a team office but will be expected to work and travel on all sites and practice settings associated with the Trust.

You will have the essential skills of good communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team; you will be comfortable with challenging and listening to differing opinions.

Essential

* NMC Registered Nurse * Evidence of post registration CPD/ post registration qualification in an appropriate area / speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialists experience / short courses to degree/ masters level equivalent

Desirable

* Health care management / Leadership Qualification

Essential

* Substantial relevant and recent clinical experience within a complex health care setting/ acute NHS setting working as a deputy manager / Band 6 position including the supervision and education of junior staff/ students. * A sound knowledge of professional priorities and issues relating to NHS care provision. * A knowledgeable clinician with ability to ensure clinical governance is embedded in practice. * Can demonstrate application of clinical knowledge with an ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate clinical programmes of work /change which directly impact on patient care and experience. * Sound understanding of evidence based practice and its application. Awareness of how to apply current research related to the speciality to programmes of work. * Recent experience in working in and with multidisciplinary teams/ cross agency setting within a complex health care setting. * Evidence of delivering change management both personally and as a facilitator.* Experience in developing and delivering educational / training programmes. * Experience of clinical audit / monitoring of standards / practice / benchmarking. * Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice. * Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance.

Desirable

* Demonstrable current, recent experience of team leadership / people and resource management within the healthcare setting. * Experience in interviewing and selection of staff. * Knowledge of the national and local NHS healthcare agenda and its implications * Experience of supporting clinical teams with developing expanded practice.

* Ability to balance and distribute/ delegate elements of portfolio / work and manage the people in the team. * Evidence of ability to compile reports and documents for internal / external communication. * Ability to communicate with a wide range of health care professionals, on a variety of complex and sensitive issues which require persuasive and empathetic skills. * Ability to work autonomously, manage / prioritise own workload across competing priorities and respond to changing timescales. * Ability to work under pressure across competing priorities. * Competent in a range of clinical skills and expanded practices relevant to the scope of practice required. * Ability to construct, undertake clinical audit and analyse information to produce a report and recommendations. * Proven ability to analyse data and identify data trends. * Able to effectively present information to groups /health care professionals. * Ability to challenge / address / highlight areas of practice concern in a proactive / reactive manner through appropriate channels. * Ability to address complex multi-dimensional issues related to developing practice/ setting and monitoring standards of care. * Proficient IT skills able to produce reports / tables and format documents * Ability to communicate articulately and motivate others using a variety of media * Ability to adapt behaviour to changing circumstances.
