Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Physical Health Matron in Learning Disability and Autism services (LDA). You will be responsible for the development, delivery and implementation of the Physical Health Pathway interventions, increasing the knowledge and skills of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and providing the strategic visioning to embed sustainable improvements.

You must be a Registered General Nurse, with a minimum of 2 years at band 7 or above, and be able to demonstrate significant experience in clinical leadership and operational management. Proven ability to support teams through cycles of change management and a working knowledge of utilising quality improvement methodologies.

Main duties of the job

The physical health pathway provides a critical branch to our transformation of LDA services. You will be responsible for providing professional and clinical leadership, that supports the delivery of evidence based physical health interventions, across a range of in patient and community LDA services. You will work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure developments align to the Trust, Nursing, Workforce and Quality and Safety strategies. You will need to demonstrate the aptitude to be an optimistic, resilient and visible leader, who can identify and harness the opportunities for cycles of change, that enable us to sustain transformation and deliver coproduced and exceptional quality patient centred services and promotes engagement with staff and patients across the services.

About us

The post holder will work closely with the General Manager, the Associate Director of Nursing, Heads of Nursing for In Patient and Community Services and the wider senior management team.

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust provides a full range of expanding physical, mental health and learning disability services to children, young adults, adults and older adults over many sites across Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull.

Services are provided to a population of over one million people living in Coventry and Warwickshire and also a wider geographical area in some of our specialist services.

Job responsibilities

The Matron will provide advice and leadership for the delivery and implementation of the revised physical health pathway and increase the skills and knowledge of the Multidisciplinary Team workforce in LDA services, in relation to physical health.

The post holder will lead the development of physical health nursing practice to enable continuous quality improvement in service provision and support inter-professional practice development, to meet service user needs.

The post holder will provide clinical and managerial supervision for direct line managed staff and drive continuous improvement approaches and high standards of clinical care, across the Learning Disability and Autism Directorate, to sustain standards of care, including the assurance that Care Quality Commission (CQC) essential standards are met and exceeded.

The post holder will provide visible leadership and be available to staff across LDA services and for their patients / carers and be responsive to their experience of care and concerns.

Each post holder will work as part of the collaborative clinical leadership team across LDA services providing, the foundation for strong, safe and effective multi-professional team development.

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to a Masters level or demonstrable knowledge at the same level Registered learning disability or mental health nurse with significant post-qualification experience in Learning Disabilities Working knowledge of the Health and Social Care system including Mental Health Extensive operational experience in a clinical setting

At least five years' experience post-qualification with additional, demonstrable management experience Experienced in working with other teams, internally and externally, to manage operational issues in a clinical setting Demonstrable experience across learning disability and/or related services
