Your Role: Regional Broadcast Engineer

As a Regional Broadcast Engineer you’ll be a key member of our team supporting Global in utilising technology effectively and efficiently to keep things working and our radio stations on air. 

You’ll be based at one of our state-of-the-art Broadcast Centres and be part of a team of engineers supporting the region. You’ll participate in an on-call rota for emergency incidents. 

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance and Support (60%): Proactively and reactively maintaining studios and other broadcast facilities and participating in an operational callout rota to provide urgent support outside of normal working hours. Providing support and training to non-technical Globallers in the use our technology. Being a local representative of the Technology Operations team on all matters, including Broadcast Engineering, IT, Workspace, and Security. Service Management (20%): Providing efficient service management by logging, prioritising, and progressing all incidents to completion. Managing planned change using industry standard processes. Utilising realtime monitoring solutions to identify and resolve incidents. Ensuring documentation is kept current and up to date. Compliance and Policy Adherence (20%): Ensuring compliance with Technology, Data Protection, Information Security, and Health and Safety policies.

This role may involve some working from other Broadcast Centres across the UK where necessary.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

Gained a good working knowledge of the equipment in use at your site Built a great relationship with the team at your site and the wider Technology Team Learned about Global and it’s ways of working Set yourself a couple of achievable goals and achieved them Familiarised yourself with our incident management system and used it to manage your workload Gained enough knowledge to make steps towards taking your first on-call rota shift

What You’ll Need

A basic knowledge of Electronics and Information Technology: You’ll be able to follow a simple circuit diagram and know your way around MacOS, iOS and Windows 11.  Relevant experience and/or qualifications: Ideally this would be in Radio Broadcast Engineering but might be from TV or Audio Engineering. Volunteering in Student, Hospital and Community Radio is equally valid Understanding of service management principles: You’ll know a P1 from a P4 A clean driving license : You may be expected to drive to other Global sites. Great customer service skills: Our customers are our Globallers. our Audiences, our partners and our communities – you’ll be able to give great customer service to all of them. Great at planning and organising and juggling different priorities. Problem solving: Have an ability to solve problems and resolve issues quickly and calmly  Ability to work self-sufficiently as well as part of a larger team. Coaching and Development: Nurturing talent by empowering and guiding individuals to unlock their potential.
