Job summary

An exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated, responsible and caring individual to join the Community Rapid Response team based at Rochdale infirmary.

The service provides a multi disciplinary approach to hospital avoidance by providing timely response to acutely unwell patients in their own homes.

As a Therapy Assistant you will work alongside qualified Physiotherapists, occupational therapists and Specialist Nurses within a strong multidisciplinary team working with patients who have acute rehabilitation needs.

You will assist Therapy and nursing staff in planning and delivering effective treatment sessions and you will carry a delegated case load. As a Therapy Assistant you will contribute to the smooth running of the department and this will include some housekeeping and administration duties.

You will have good communication and interpersonal skills along with previous experience of working within a health or social care setting.

You will receive training, support, supervision and appraisals.

Car driver and access to a vehicle is essential as the role is community based, within patient's own homes - please indicate this on your application.

Main duties of the job

Assessing and treating patients as delegated by the Therapists; following treatment plans /protocols, monitoring progress and after liaising with the Therapists, making minor alterations to programmes as required.

Carry a delegated caseload under supervision of senior members of the team.

Working as part of the Multi Disciplinary team , without direct supervision, reporting back progress and informing therapists of any problems.

Ordering of equipment online following the discussion with the qualified therapists.

Managing the Site Peripheral Store, including basic stock checks and the cleaning/ maintenance of equipment.

General administrative duties.

Qualifications

Essential

NVQ3/BTEC SNVQ3 or equivalent standard and apply to rehabilitation setting Good general education to GCSE level or equivalent including English and Maths

Desirable

Foundation degree in health and social care

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential

Significant experience as a Health Care Support Worker or Therapy Assistant in Care of the Elderly or Community Rehabilitation Demonstrate ability to work as part of the MDT Demonstrate a knowledge of the basic aims and principles of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy and the therapy assistant practitioner role Knowledge of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy equipment and able to assess and fit safely in the community

Skills & Abilities

Essential

Good written and verbal communication skills Computer literate Ability to be flexible, adaptable and able to work on own initiative Ability to travel to different geographical locations across the Trust footprint in line with service needs

Desirable

Full UK driving license with willingness to use own car for work purposes
