Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher Opportunity
Location: Bolton | Full-Time Position in an SEN Primary School with Specialist Facilities to start January.
( Pay to scale + SEN allowance)
Are you a passionate and creative educator ready to make a life-changing impact on children with complex learning needs? We’re excited to invite an inspiring Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join our dynamic, inclusive, and highly supportive primary school in Bolton. This is an exceptional chance to bring your enthusiasm and expertise to a role where each day is focused on helping children with diverse needs—ranging from ADHD, Autism, Down Syndrome, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) to Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)—grow, learn, and thrive.
About the Role:In this role, you’ll be the catalyst for engagement and learning in a specially designed environment equipped with sensory rooms, therapy spaces, and vibrant outdoor learning areas. Your mission will be to deliver creative, multisensory lessons that not only spark curiosity but also encourage every child to reach their personal best. Here’s what you can expect:
- Create Engaging, Thematic Lessons: Design and deliver thematic, activity-based lessons that are tailored to each child’s unique needs, using hands-on, experiential activities to capture attention and promote understanding.
- Use Specialised Teaching Techniques: Employ a wide range of communication aids and sensory-based approaches, such as PECS, Makaton, and AAC, to support cognitive and social development. Each lesson will be designed to foster independence and improve communication skills.
- Build a Supportive Learning Environment: Utilise state-of-the-art resources, including sensory rooms and outdoor spaces, to create a safe and stimulating classroom. This role allows you to bring learning to life through physical and sensory activities that address students’ specific needs.
- Collaborate with a Multidisciplinary Team: You’ll work closely with physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to implement individualised learning plans. Together, you’ll offer a holistic approach that meets the academic, social, and physical needs of each student.
- Engage with Families: Actively partner with families and carers, ensuring that students’ progress extends beyond the classroom. You’ll play a vital role in fostering life skills, independence, and personal development for each child.
- Innovative Learning Environment: Access to a wide range of specialist facilities, including therapy spaces, sensory rooms, and outdoor areas, designed to enrich learning experiences and support diverse educational needs.
- Creative Freedom and Flexibility: An opportunity to deliver imaginative, hands-on lessons where every day is dynamic, adapting to the individual needs of students and making learning a joyful experience.
- Professional Development Focus: We are committed to helping our teachers excel. Tailored training in areas such as PMLD, sensory integration, and communication strategies will equip you to make a lasting impact.
- Collaborative, Inclusive Culture: Work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team that values each child’s potential. Together, we create a nurturing space where students feel supported, encouraged, and capable of achieving their goals.
We’re looking for a qualified teacher who combines expertise in SEN with a warm, adaptable approach. Here’s what will help you succeed:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Equivalent: Required for this position, ideally with experience in SEN.
- Passion for Creative, Activity-Based Learning: You’ll be excited to develop engaging, multisensory lessons that adapt to each child’s abilities, promoting enthusiasm and joy for learning.
- Experience with Communication Strategies: Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or AAC is a plus, along with a commitment to using these tools to enhance students' independence and communication skills.
- Collaborative and Patient Approach: Ability to work closely with support staff, therapists, and families, creating a consistent, holistic learning journey for each student.
- Commitment to Inclusive Education: A belief that every child deserves access to meaningful learning, tailored to their needs and delivered with compassion.
If you’re an imaginative and dedicated teacher looking to transform lives, we’d love to hear from you. This role offers the chance to work in a rewarding environment, where each day brings new opportunities to inspire and uplift students with profound learning challenges.
