Job summary

Would you like the opportunity to work as a part of a progressive, patient focused pharmacy service?An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic Clinical Pharmacist to join our friendly neonatal, obstetrics and gynaecology team.

The post-holder will provide advanced clinical pharmacy service to the Neonatal Unit, as well as obstetrics and gynaecology wards at STH NHSFT. STH Neonatal Unit is the regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for the Yorkshire and Humber Neonatal Operational Delivery Network providing care to babies from Sheffield and other regional units.

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, participating actively in ward rounds, MDT meetings and neonatal nutrition. There will be opportunity to complete an Independent Prescriber qualification with support from the other Neonatal and Obs & Gynae Pharmacist prescribers.

Our inclusive and diverse pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence in all areas. We are innovative and forward-thinking and have invested in a host of technical improvements, including robotics and a state of the art, multi-million-pound technical services unit. We offer a wide range of roles across different areas of the service including clinical ward services, aseptic services, homecare, medicines supply, medicines information, medicines governance, education & training, clinical trials, and research.

Main duties of the job

To deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to neonatology, obstetrics and gynaecology in accordance with the objectives set by the Lead Pharmacist, Principal Pharmacist and Clinical Directorate management representative (where applicable) in order to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of drugs.

To provide advanced clinical pharmacy to the provision of total parenteral nutrition (TPN) to neonates.

To provide advanced clinical pharmacy cover to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

To work as an independent prescriber within clinical competence.

To provide clinical pharmacy services to obstetrics and gynaecology.

To contribute to the pharmacy departmental services including evenings and weekends.
