About your role

As a Support Worker, you will be supporting individuals with complex needs such as Autism, Learning Disabilities, challenging behaviours, physical disabilities, and Mental Health conditions.

Role Responsibilities

Encourage the people we support to participate in their chosen activity or follow their interests, this will involve assisting them in the community. Co-ordinate scheduled activities for the people we support, using personalised rotas and liaising with others, ensuring facilitated activities and appointments are attended. Support, prompt and assist people with their personal care, promoting independence during this, wherever possible. Encourage the people we support to utilise or develop any proactive strategies to maintain their emotional wellbeing and mental health. Ensure all records are accurate and up to date, including incident forms, daily notes and finance records.

Role Requirements

Excellent communication skills, as well as excellent listening skills, as you will be supporting people who use various methods of communication. Knowledge/experience/desire to support individuals with Mental Health, Learning Disabilities or Challenging Behaviour is essential. Good basic comprehension of English language including basic literacy and numerical skills i.e., GCSE level or equivalent. Ongoing commitment to own personal development and training.

All staff who work in a service that is registered with Care Inspectorate for Wales (CIW) will be required to register with Social Care Wales from 1st October 2022. You must also be prepared to work towards/undertake the necessary qualifications to meet the requirements to register.
