Placements and Work-Based Learning give students the opportunity to gain skills specific to their subject or industry of choice as well as the employability skills required for real-life work. It also increases their knowledge of an industry or sector, allowing them to make better-informed decisions about future career choices.

The Placement Support Team are responsible for a wide range of activities relating to the quality & standards of placements and other work-based learning activities; this includes pre-placement approval, checks & documentation, oversight of the placement year, and operational management of specific schemes and activities. The team also provide information, advice and guidance via the Jobs Hub, Ask a Question and other in-person/online activity as required.

As a Placement Support Officer, you'll work flexibly as part of an enthusiastic team dedicated to engaging and supporting students with placements.

This is a varied role where you will proactively contribute to a customer-focused, high-quality placement service. You will have operational oversight of specific schemes, programmes and/or cohorts of students both seeking and participating in placements and work-based learning activity; as such, you will be a key contact point, providing specialist advice to staff, students and placement providers. You will also proactively manage associated administrative processes and systems, ensuring that all data is recorded in a consistent, accurate and timely manner.

We are looking for someone with administrative experience, in particular working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholder groups and with a focus on continual improvement. Experience of providing a professional and efficient customer service is essential to the role.

The ideal candidate will:

Have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate information carefully to students and placement providers, both verbally and in writing.Use their understanding of the services provided to assist students and placement providers.Prioritise their own workload effectively.Build relationships and liaise with a variety of contacts to disseminate information and support the work of the team.

We'll provide all the training and support you'll need to help you contribute to student employability. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and develop within the Careers and Employability Service.

 This role is a permanent 0.5 FTE.
