Passeneger Service Operative

Birmingham Airport is the UK’s seventh largest with 30 airlines serving over 120 destinations direct and onwards to over 400. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic 13m customers a year flew in and out of BHX. Going forward we project growth to more than 18m customers a year by 2033 – by which time we will be connected to central London by HS2 trains in just 37 minutes and aim to have become a net zero carbon airport.

Reporting to the Airfield Service Manager and under the direction of the Senior Bussing Duty Manager and the Bussing Duty Manager, the landside and airside transportation of airport customers requires a Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence. This function includes a broad remit supporting the airfield operations strategy and vision for “safety excellence”.


To be fully flexible to support the rostering requirements of the post in order to sustain the operational requirements of a 24 hours per day/ 7 days per week airport


You will be the face of Birmingham Airport, promoting our brand values and delivering world class customer service to our passengers and stakeholders alike . You will play a key role ensuring the ‘ Customer is at the heart’ of everything we do.

Main Duties and Responsibilities


Customer Service
Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and working within the customer experience department you must always live and breathe Customer Service and champion the customer.
• Proactively resolve problems to minimise the impact on our customers
• Identify and escalate any issues that may impact the operation to the Bussing Duty Manager
• Offer a bespoke service tailored to the individual needs of our diverse customers, ensuring that you provide the customer with a unique and personal experience
• Listen and communicate with positive body language in order to understand the customer needs and to articulate appropriately

Remaining professional and courteous at all times, displaying high levels of customer service to passengers ensuring their passage through the airport is positive
• Maintain a current knowledge of Airport and offsite facilities and have a foundation knowledge of Airline products and the interconnectivity of the Airport and its functions as a whole


Operational
With a willingness to learn and develop, Operatives will maintain a focus on department goals and objectives, displaying consistently smart appearance and positive behaviours commensurate with our vision. Responsibilities shall include but is not limited to;
• Safe operations at all times
• Aerodrome Safety Management System (SMS)
• PCV Licence requirements maintained (CPC and licence renewal)
• Health & Safety
• Airside driving permit competence
• Hazard identification and risk management
• Sweeping, scrubbing and tidiness of airside & critical part aprons and roads
• FOD and deep cleaning of airfield
• Cleanliness of fleet vehicles
• Safety assurance & compliance
• Health & Safety (COSHH / Inspections / Risk Assessments etc)
• Safety Promotion
• Monitoring and inspection of the apron service roads

• Ensure you meet all KPIs
