Ocean Housing Group are proud and excited to be recruiting for two new Housing and Property Management Apprenticeships. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your professional career, giving you valuable on-the-job experience whilst working towards an industry recognised qualification.

This is a full time position, 5 days a week, with dedicated time to complete your academic studies. Hours per week are 37 hours.

The successful candidates will support the Customer Experience and Neighbourhoods teams in first line support of all Ocean Housing’s contact with tenants and customers. 

You will provide administrative and other services associated with the management of Ocean Housing tenancies, properties and estates, whilst supporting in delivering a great customer experience. 

You will have daily contact with operational housing staff and with other staff within Ocean, with regular contact with Ocean Housing tenants and representatives of other agencies and the local authority.

Throughout the placement, the post holder may rotate through different departments within Ocean Housing, undertaking a variety of duties, in order to gain a wide range of knowledge and experience in housing and property management.

What training will the position take and what qualification will I get at the end?

You will study towards a Level 3 qualification in Housing & Property Management delivered with the online learning provider The Apprentice Academy. Skills and knowledge gained on the apprenticeship will be formally tested.

You will learn various aspects of Housing Management including:

  • Health and Safety
  • Risk assessments
  • Leases and Licences
  • Data Protection
  • Common Law
  • History of Social Housing
  • Terms in Tenancy Agreements
  • Social and Physical context of Estates and Neighbourhoods
  • EPC's
  • Private Landlords
  • Developments and Listed Buildings

What is the expected career progression after this Level 3 apprenticeship?

Potential for progression to a role within Housing and Property Management.

Requirements and prospects

Essential: 

  • An understanding of Health and Safety and the concept of ‘Duty of Care’ for self and others
  • Knowledge of MS Office

Desirable: 

  • A knowledge and awareness of office environments
  • An understanding or first-hand lived experience of social housing

Personal Qualities 

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to use IT systems
  • Ability to communicate clearly, confidently and politely
  • Demonstrates patience and diplomacy
  • Be productive at any location, office based/home working

Essential Qualifications

Level 2 Key skills (Literacy & Numeracy) or equivalent.

Things to consider

It is expected that some flexibility to hours of work will be required in order to meet the demands of the job. You must ensure you have suitable travel arrangements in place to get to and from the workplace. 

Salary 

Salary is paid in line with the National Minimum Wage in relation to your age.
