We are looking for a motivated and passionate individual tojoin our well established and respected therapy team who work on our 20-bedstroke rehabilitation ward.

The post provides an excellentopportunity to broaden your knowledge in a range of specialties such as:

Stroke- Neurological conditions

Medicine

ElderlyCare

Surgery& Orthopaedics

We offer a comprehensive support package for band 3's todevelop their skills; including the use of competencies, which covers keyskills and learning opportunities required, workshops and training sessions andpeer support.

Main duties of the job

To work within a multi-disciplinary team in a community hospitalinpatient ward, providing support and treatment to individuals following astroke, within guidelines and protocols identified for the role.

The primary function of this role is to ensure that opportunitiesfor patients to rehabilitate are optimised during their stay on the ward. Underthe direction of the interdisciplinary team the post-holder will:

Assistregistered staff in assessment and therapy tasks

Move, treat, communicatewith patients in accordance with the therapy plan

Implementtreatment plans agreed with the registered therapy staff, including overseeingand assisting with physical exercise, personal care ( washing, toileting) andpractice of domestic activities of daily living and the use of technologiessuch as computing, and supporting communication and safe swallowing

Aspart of their rehabilitation, work with patients with cognitive and/orperceptual difficulties

Trainand educate patients, carers and families under the direction of registeredstaff

Qualifications

Essential

Good general education. Relevant NVQ Level 3 in health care or Equivalent (or willingness to undertake).

Desirable

Some knowledge and awareness of neuro and general rehabilitation principles

Experience

Essential

12 months experience of working in a care setting. Some knowledge and awareness of neuro and general rehabilitation principles Knowledge of and ability to use, patient handling and technical equipment relevant to patient group. Knowledge of relevant policies Some knowledge and awareness of the signs of communication and swallowing disorders

Desirable

Experience of community working. Experience of multi-disciplinary team (MDT) working. Experience of working in a health, physical exercise or rehabilitation environment Experience of providing information, training or education to members of the public
