Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our care team in Nottingham. In this key role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to individuals, as well as overseeing and mentoring junior support workers. You will play a crucial part in ensuring that the people we support receive exceptional care in a safe and respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Person-Centred Care: Deliver direct care and support to individuals, focusing on their personal needs, preferences, and independence.
- Leadership & Mentoring: Support, supervise, and mentor junior support workers, ensuring they follow best practices and meet the standards of care.
- Care Planning: Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating individual care plans, ensuring they are tailored to meet the specific needs of each service user.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all service users, including daily logs, risk assessments, and care plans.
- Medication Management: Administer and monitor medications, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and policies.
- Communication: Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and other external agencies to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Care Manager and the wider team to maintain a high standard of care and to improve care delivery.
- Health & Safety: Ensure a safe environment for both service users and staff by following health and safety guidelines and reporting any concerns.
Key Skills & Requirements:
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is essential.
- Additional relevant qualifications in social care or leadership are desirable.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a support worker role, ideally in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- Experience working with individuals with specific conditions, such as learning disabilities, autism, mental health.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting individuals.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
Other Requirements:
- A commitment to promoting independence, dignity, and respect for service users.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
