Buckinghamshire Council is looking for a Public Health Epidemiologist to join the Public Health team.

This is a personal contract with a salary of up to £72,975 per annum, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a Public Health Epidemiologist to lead and manage complex public health and intelligence projects to improve health and reduce health inequalities in Buckinghamshire. They will use their statistical and epidemiological expertise to shape and inform the development and delivery of public health and partnership strategies and programmes. The role requires expertise in the use of data intelligence, health evidence, evaluation methods and appropriate health metrics.

The post will be managed by a Consultant in Public Health who leads on intelligence, and they will work closely with the Councils Business Intelligence team. We offer flexible working and opportunities for continuing professional development.

Buckinghamshire Council is looking for a Public Health Epidemiologist to join its Public Health team. The Council is an innovative and high performing organisation, and public health is embedded in the councils core business.

Buckinghamshire is generally more affluent and as a result has better health outcomes than the national average. There are however significant inequalities across the County, and the population is ageing.

The Public Health Epidemiologist will act as the key link for epidemiology and public health intelligence, providing high quality technical skills, advice and support.

Job responsibilities

the ideal candidate will have substantial experience of delivering successful health intelligence and epidemiology projects from inception to completion. The post holder will ensure high quality and often complex epidemiological information from a range of sources is provided and that it is appropriately analysed and interpreted for use at operational and strategic levels to support and inform public health decision making. They will provide expert statistical and epidemiological advice to the organisation and other strategic partnerships; often there will be conflicting information which will require a high level of understanding and advice on how it should be interpreted. You will work in partnership with other local authority services areas and other external partners and service providers to maximise health improvement and reduce inequalities in health.
