Job Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to lead the Exploratory Innovation activities for Coating Construction & Solutions division. The role will deliver validated business cases for inclusion into the innovation delivery pipeline. The role will lead an agile team of “Innovation Squads” exploring a diverse range of innovation topics, emerging technologies and new market opportunities. This role will be the key delivery mechanism for breakthrough innovation in CCS allowing us to deliver our sustainability, specialisation and growth targets.

Main Accountabilities:

Delivering validated and technically feasible business cases into the innovation delivery pipeline Bringing new thinking, new approaches and new opportunities to our innovation strategy Setting and leading the Exploratory Innovation strategy for CCS Developing an operating model for front-end innovation, including the interactions with BUs, R&D, Platform Technology, Sustainability etc. including metrics and KPIs Building an operating model for opportunistic technology scouting and new business identification Establishing a strong Foresight operation, providing the Division with insights and intelligence to fuel our decision making Building an external network of innovation providers, technology developers, industry insiders to help us unlock new opportunities Establishing strong relationships with Business Units, R&D, Platform Innovation and Strategic Marketing teams Prioritising innovation opportunities and managing trade-off between BUs. Helping BUs to build their 5-year innovation pipelines, technology and product roadmaps with insights on new market opportunities and emerging technologies Managing an Innovation budget Promoting the company core values of team working, SHE, teamwork, innovation, accountability and integrity

What you’ll need to be successful:

Degree-level qualification, ideally science or business related Proven track record of structuring and leading (front-end) innovation functions in a relevant industry (Chemical, FMCG, Consumer health, Food & Drink, Pharma) Strong Commercial acumen Flexible self-starter with strong work ethic, positive outlook, and solid collaboration skills Ability to manage competing priorities, make decisions, operate independently, and work effectively under pressure to achieve program goals Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and project management skills, including the ability to manage scope and contain risks Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders, present to executive teams, and tailor messaging to audience needs
