Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction and advice on the estate, ensuring that the built environment is safe for patients, visitors, and staff, is fit for the future, is managed effectively and efficiently, and adapts to changing healthcare needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hold corporate and professional responsibility for estates and facilities service standards, governance, policies, financial management, statutory and regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Provide strategic direction and advice on the estate, ensuring that it is safe, efficient, and effective.
  • Develop and implement effective financial control procedures to ensure robust financial, legal, and risk management.
  • Establish effective partnership working with other organizations at a senior level, preferably a mix of public, private, and voluntary sector.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve services within tight financial constraints.
  • Lead complex negotiations and build strategic comprehension to understand long-term or widespread implications of decisions.
  • Ensure that organizational structures, processes, relationships, and behaviors are healthy and effective.
  • Develop and present complex information, including business cases, tender specifications, and board reports and policies.

Requirements:

  • Significant senior management experience in a large organization in estates and facilities management.
  • Chartered professional registration/accreditation in a relevant discipline (e.g. RIBA, CIOB, RICS, CIBSE, etc.).
  • Technical, construction, and project management skills.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills to lead complex negotiations and build strategic comprehension.
  • Organizational development skills to ensure that organizational structures, processes, relationships, and behaviors are healthy and effective.
  • Ability to write and present complex information.
