The successful applicant will work closely with the specialist mental health practitioners undertaking assessments and interventions with women/birthing parents and families.

The CommunityPerinatal Service is going through an exciting period of expansion and transformation in orderto meet the commitments of the NHS Long Term Plan. We are commissioned to work withwomen/birthing persons pre-conceptually, in pregnancy and postnatally wherethere are mental health concerns. With the increase in a number of clinicalroles across the service, we will be in a position to extend our offer forwomen/birthing persons from 12-24 months as well as offering fathers/co-parentsscreening and sign posting for their own mental health needs.

We are seeking an individual who is open to learning &developing their skills in perinatal mental health and we are committed tosupporting them by offering a comprehensive induction with ongoing support,supervision and professional development from our established and passionateMDT.

We also offer Band 3 trainee opportunities for candidates who do not hold the relevant qualification but have relevant experience - See info in supporting documents

Main duties of the job

The principal purpose of the job is to improve the health & wellbeing of people with a range of mental health difficulties in the perinatal period. This will be achieved by:

Active involvement in the delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate mental health services as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Implementing specificassessment, review and care packages toindividuals and groups within standard protocols, integrated care pathways andRecovery principles.

Providing evidence based advice and consultancy to patients, familymembers/ Carers withinstandard protocols for care co-ordination/ caremanagement.

Organisingand managing a defined caseload under supervision with an expectation of lone working where appropriate.

The post holderwill be accountable for their own actions within the delivery of this care. Seekingadvice and expertise of a registered practitioner when required through the useof regular managerial and clinical supervision in accordance with Trust policy.

Must already hold or obtain the Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment. Level 3 QCF in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification GCSE in Maths and English (Grade C or above) OR Level 2 Key Skills / Functional Skills in Maths and English If a Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification is not already obtained, to complete within 2 years of commencing employment.

Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or qualification to diploma level or equivalent
