Who We Are

About the NHS Scotland Academy

The NHS Scotland Academy is an exciting partnership between NHS Golden Jubilee and NHS Education for Scotland to offer accelerated training for a wide range of health and social care roles and professions. The Academy will provide an opportunity for staff to improve their skills in specific areas, using residential, distance and virtual reality learning. It will offer attractive training programmes linked to recruitment and career progression.

The Academy draws on the strengths of both parent organisations. It will use both the state-of-the-art clinical and simulation facilities at NHS Golden Jubilee and the educational expertise and technology-enabled learning offered by NHS Education for Scotland

 The Academy will support NHS Scotland to develop additional capacity and new capabilities. It will add to existing educational programmes and respond to evolving and emerging workforce needs. By addressing recruitment gaps and training needs, it will help ensure the health and social care workforce is prepared for future needs in Scotland.

As part of this partnership, the successful applicant will remain with their host Board as main employer with a Service Level Agreement between NHS Education for Scotland and their Board to cover these sessions.

What you'll do

National Faculty

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of endoscopy training in Scotland. The National Endoscopy Training Programme has it’s hub at the Golden Jubilee with spoke training sites in the current accredited centres in Stobhill Hospital Glasgow, East Lothian Community Hospital and Dundee Centre for Skills and Simulation, with the ambition to add other centres as JAG accreditation is gained.

As a member of national faculty, you will be instrumental in delivering training across Scotland. You will support the national, regional and workstream leads in developing and reviewing course materials to ensure they meet national requirements, both online and for courses. This post involves travel across Scotland. You will also have a role in ensuring training is delivered to specified standards, ensuring quality of patient care and that training is a positive experience for trainee endoscopists and all staff working in the area.

For this recruitment round, we are particularly keen to hear from those with a significant interest in upper GI endoscopy to help us develop and deliver best practice training and Train the Trainer across Scotland.

What you'll bring

You must be on the NMC/HCPC register with a licence to practice.

You must be in current permanent employment within NHS Scotland.

You must also have significant experience as an endoscopist with full JAG endoscopy accreditation

You will have experience as an endoscopy trainer.

You must have recent experience as a faculty member on endoscopy training courses and have knowledge of the current JAG training requirements and standards as well as experience of using the JETs workforce platform.

You must be familiar with the specialty specific guidelines and new developments.

The postholder must also have recent evidence of personally delivering endoscopy that meets the quality indicators provided by JAG.

You must have agreement of your line manager and Service Manager before applying.
