Job summary

This is a Clinical Fellowship post, dedicated to Clinical Radiology.

The Fellowship is for a fixed term of 12 months and it is expected that the Fellow will undertake supervised clinical radiology work as well as trial activity. A shorter duration of Fellowship may be negotiated.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Fellow will spend most of his/her time at Velindre, supported by the Consultant Radiologists at Velindre Cancer Centre (VCC). They will have the opportunity to further their experience in body CT, body MRI, Neuro-oncological imaging, Acute Oncological Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and limited cancer specific interventional procedures.

There will be opportunities to attend various MDT meetings as well as Acute Oncology Service meetings. Also exposure will be provided to radiological support for image guided radiotherapy planning. They will also spend time on trial scans and their reports. They will be adequately supervised in all their activities. Their exact job plan will be developed in discussion with The Head of Clinical Radiology. The general workload will be light and there will be plenty of learning opportunities in the field of cancer imaging.

The post is suitable for a junior radiologist looking forward to gaining experience in oncological imaging.

Supporting professional activities include: Self education, attending teaching sessions in the department, attending audit and educational/discrepancy meetings in the department, audit preparations, poster/oral presentations for meetings/conferences. Qualifications

Essential

Qualified Medical Practitioner Full GMC Registration FRCR - part or full/or equivalent qualification in Clinical Radiology Significant experience of radiology training Principles of cancer imaging

Knowledge of clinical trial protocols and research relevant to cancer Track record of previous clinical or academic publications (poster/oral) and/or other research work

Experience

Clinical Radiology experience at specialist registrar level

Experience of writing abstracts/papers for presentation and Publication Previous research experience Proven interpersonal and communication skills to work with clinical research colleagues at all levels across a range of organisations and sectors
