Job summary

This role is a fantastic opportunity to work as a key member of the Trusts EPR programme as a Data Migration Developer. The EPR programme will replace the Patient Administration system (PAS) for both Acute and Community services and implement a trust wide Electronic Patient record.

Working as part of the Data Migration team you will be responsible for ensuring that all required data is successfully migrated from legacy systems to the new EPR. This will involve working with staff from all areas and levels of the organisation and provides an exceptional opportunity to learn from both Operational and Clinical colleagues to augment your already strong data and analytics knowledge. You will also get to learn the new EPR system inside and out and gain fantastic experience and knowledge working on a complex 3 year programme.

The role involves working within a larger EPR Programme Team. You will work alongside the Data Migration Lead to support the development and maintenance of the Trusts Data Migration toolkit. Ensuring that data is migrated accurately and completely, supporting the requirements of the EPR Programme and achieving its key goals of improving productivity, sharing of information and improving patient outcomes.

The right candidate will be a natural problem solver with an eye for detail and excellent analytical skills. Significant real-world experience with Microsoft SQL Server (specifically T-SQL and SSIS) is required in order to be considered for this role.

Main duties of the job

As a Data Migration Developer you will work as part of a friendly and established Programme team. Working alongside and supporting the Data Migration Lead for the delivery of the Data Migration workstream and function as a subject matter expert on data migration.

Key responsibilities

Responsible for the development and maintenance of the Trusts Data Migration toolkit using T-SQL and SSIS, where necessary the development of new data extraction and migration processes to meet the requirements of the EPR programme. To lead on the development of a Trust Data Migration toolkit to extract and transform the required data for migration into the new EPR solution, ensure its on-going maintenance and alignment with Data Migration strategy. Responsible for the development of reporting tools and analytics to support Data Migration activities and support the EPR programme in its decision making. Ensuring all required data is extracted and transformed in line with agreed requirements for Data Migration purposes. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Data Migration workstream

Job responsibilities

Main duties

Responsible for the extracting and converting all required data from trust systems to meet the EPR programme requirements and the Data Migration strategy. Completing all required documentation.

To lead on the development and maintenance of the Trusts Data Migration toolkit, incorporating new datasets as required.

Responsible for the management and submission of data migration flat files for loading into the new EPR system, in line with programme agreed deadlines.

Responsible for overseeing any changes required to the Data Migration toolkit in line with the Data Migration Strategy and Data Migration specification.

Responsible for ensuring the Data Migration data correlates to the locally held reporting data and ensure any differences are investigated, mitigated, and signed off within agreed Programme governance.

To develop required analytical and data quality reporting to support the Data Migration process, producing a suite of reports for regular usage by the Programme team.

To provide specialist advice and guidance on the Data Migration toolkit and processes within the EPR programme and relevant project meetings. Communicate with confidence and clarity in various situations through verbal and written reports and presentations to all levels of the EPR programme.

To ensure documentation for the Data Migration workstream is up-to-date and regularly reviewed. Ensuring any risks or key decisions are fully documented and managed in line with agreed programme governance.

Maintain regular consultation and engagement with all relevant stakeholders.

Organise and prioritise own workload within agreed objectives and that of the Data Migration team. Working autonomously within agreed project parameters and timelines.

The post holder will be required to undertake duties and attend functions outside normal working hours from time to time.

To deputise for the Senior Data Migration Consultant during periods of absence and represent the Data Migration workstream as and when required in programme meetings.

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to Degree level or equivalent Evidence of continuing personal development Microsoft certified in T-SQL / SSIS or equivalent experience

Experience/Skills

Essential

Proven in-depth technical understanding of data extraction, transformation and load from multiple systems and data formats Ability to understand and present complex information relating to Data Migration workstream Good understanding of NHS functions (Acute / Community settings) and associated information systems Good knowledge of the NHS data dictionary and national reporting requirements (CDS, CSDS and ECDS) Experience of working with large datasets in a variety of formats and structures

Technical skills

Essential

Expert in T-SQL scripting and development of SSIS packages for ETL processing Expert in Microsoft Excel Expert knowledge of T-SQL database functions

Desirable

Knowledge of creating and managing stored procedures and scalar and table functions Knowledge of creation and optimisation of database indexes Experience with software development and RPA (Robotic Process Automation) software Experience with data analytics and knowledge of reporting tools - Power BI and SSRS
