Quality Engineer

Whitehaven, Cumbria

Full time Permanent or Contract

JOB PURPOSE
Ensure quality in SSEP, suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce failures, and meet customer/Sellafield specs. Support handover of project documentation.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist in delivering project Quality Assurance & Control Strategy.
• Plan, evaluate, and verify quality, embedding improvements to ensure effective delivery and cost control.
• Help deliver project portfolio quality improvement plans.
• Support the Learning from Experience process at the project level.
• ✅ Deploy QA activities to ensure right-first-time delivery.
• Support the SSEP handover process.

Principal Accountabilities
• Monitor, analyze, and report quality performance, e.g., monthly dashboards.
• ✔️ Review and accept supplier quality submissions.
• Help implement Quality & Life Time Record strategy for SSEP.
• Develop and agree on quality plans, identifying necessary inspections.
• Provide technical advice to project teams.
• Propose quality improvements and influence stakeholders for changes.


Qualifications

Essential Experience:
• Graduate in relevant discipline with experience in project delivery or similar roles.
• Project experience in Sellafield or similar high-risk environments.
• Relevant security clearance to inspect site areas.
• Experience reviewing and accepting Lifetime Quality Records.
• Ability to work effectively in a project team.

Essential Qualifications:
• Relevant quality qualifications (e.g., CQI, Auditor).

Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
