Job Description

The Director, Regulatory, is accountable for supporting the Head of Financial Operations in overseeing the successful execution of all regulatory reporting in accordance with MUTB, regulatory guidance and obligations.

Works closely with all parts of the organization and supports the wider senior management team in promoting and supporting the regulatory culture by ensuring everyone understands regulation accountabilities.

Responsible for the day-to-day Regulatory activities, including support and challenge, ad-hoc and periodic reporting as well as other activities.

To prepare and provide appropriate reporting, escalations and approvals to the Finance, Risk, Compliance and Executive Committees and Boards as required.

Role and Responsibilities

Act as single point of contact for all financial regulatory reporting, capital adequacy assessments and management, stress scenarios, and various key regulatory projects. Lead on all regulatory aspects including liquidity, funding reporting, monitoring and regulatory reports to the group’s executive and non-executive directors on a wide range of regulatory topics. Lead on projects to fully automate and standardize the regulatory reporting process of the group, including developing detailed procedures and policies, documenting assumptions, and developing key risk and control assessments for all aspects of regulatory reporting. Collaborate and maintain strong relationships and alignment with Finance, Risk, Treasury, Compliance for understanding and implementing any new regulatory reporting requirements. Preparation and presentation of key performance indicators, management information and analysis to ALM, relevant Committees, and ExCo. Experience in change management and processes. Create a center of regulatory excellence and lead the maintenance and development of group regulatory policies. Support group’s statutory reporting, ensuring compliance and best practice. Manage regulatory issues, in conjunction with Compliance ensuring timely resolution and adapting controls where necessary. Provide regulatory accounting support with a commercial mindset for M&A activity, new products and initiatives, modelling impacts on group’s key performance metrics. Develop and implement regulatory accounting training across the group to build a higher level of general understanding of key regulatory issues. Proven ability to translate detailed and complex information into concise and coherent management information. Regular exposure to Group CFO, senior management, and board committees.

Qualifications

Qualified Accountant – 10+ years’ experience. History of working in financial services and regulatory reporting. Japanese language or Japanese company experience not required but beneficial. Skilled in financial and regulatory reporting. Ability to lead a team and effectively plan and organize team’s workload and meet deliverables and objectives. Ability to build working relationships and influence stakeholders across the company, ability to resolve conflicts and manage stakeholder sensitivities. Ability to see the bigger picture, think creativity to provide alternative solutions and meet deadlines Working knowledge of Fund administration business, knowledge of financial services practices, plans and trends on risk and controls Project and change management knowledge. Experience of BI tools such as Power BI, and Business Objects a selection advantage. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills
