JOB PURPOSE:

Do you want to work in a diverse team, with colleagues who have previously had their work on Open Innovation presented at the UN Global Compact and at MIT business school, worked with Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button at McLaren F1- helping them win 13 F1 GP races, or won the National Technology and British Data Awards?

Do you want to be part of one of the UKs "Best Companies" to work and feeling like joining a close knit, supportive, dynamic, agile analytics start-up? Are you motivated to constantly improve and do better at the same time as being a supportive, challenging friend to the business, thinking creatively, to bring new approaches, methods and ways of thinking to some of the industry's biggest problems?

Then this one might be for you.

Electric vehicles, solar farms, wind turbines; it's our infrastructure that enables these assets to connect and power the UK's low carbon transition and we need your help to accelerate our digital capabilities and solutions so we can do more.

As a Senior Digital Business Partner, you will help develop the technology and digital business strategies alongside each directorate. You will enjoy collaborating with different partners to understand their most important challenges and help them build strategies to overcome them in the short term. Crucially, you will develop the Business Partnering capability to lead connectivity and collaboration between business teams and technical delivery.

DIMENSIONS:

There is a chance to line manage a Digital Business Partner.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :

  • Drive collaboration for Information Systems and other business teams to meet outcomes through digital and technology solutions.

  • Lead and line managing the business partnering team and driving the strategic direction of this capability now and into the future.

  • Represent and advocate for the needs of Information Systems to influence digital transformation.

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships both within Information Systems and other business teams and to act as the conduit between the two.

  • Leading development of collaborative digital/business strategies (including associated processes/high quality outputs) that promote the connection between digital solutions and business need.

  • Lead the identification, capture and assessment of our needs regarding digital and technology solutions.

  • Overseeing the digital and technology evaluation process and holding Information Systems and business teams accountable for their actions to make progress and meet our goals.

  • Lead the identification, capture and action for the mitigation of risks and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Own the proactive assessment of business processes and customer journeys to identify areas of opportunity for improvement.

The Digital Team is a new function within the UK's largest electricity district network operator. Our remit is wide ranging, covering all teams and departments within a business which compromises customer satisfaction, regulatory restrictions and KPIs, asset management, field operations, HR, Finance and much more.

We are NOT a traditional Digital team. Most people see us as an internal consulting team or a start-up. We are close knit, supportive, dynamic and work in agile ways. We are big on feedback and motivated to constantly improve and do better. Our mandate is to be a supportive, challenging friend to the business, thinking creatively, to bring new approaches, methods and ways of thinking to some of the industry's biggest problems.

We are encouraged to innovate, with the only prescriptions being that we can 1) Measure the scale of an improvement should the recommended actions be undertaken and 2) Achieve business support for implementing those recommendations. You will help us realise this.

We are accountable in supporting the business in achieving its vision of becoming an 'employer of choice', 'a respected corporate citizen', 'sustainably cost efficient' and 'ensuring the Net Zero transition for all'.

Within the utilities sector we are a leader winning a trio of awards at the industry's Utility Week Awards including; the Diversity Award, the Staff Development Award and the Digital Transformation Award.

More specifically the Digital Business Partnering Team is the conduit and critical friend representing both Information Systems and the business teams we work with. It's our role to help business leaders and their teams to think strategically about their digital and technology needs, to connect the dots between new, planned and live projects and lead overall visibility of changes being suggested or made to our digital and technology landscape.

As a new team we have the opportunity to shape what Digital Business Partnering means at UKPN, create the tools and ways of working that we need to be successful and drive collaborative working across departments.

Main Relational Skills Required:

  • The ability to develop strong relationships that enable trust and collaboration.

  • Confidence and capability to handle conflict and dispute resolution with ease.

  • Be able to frame discussions strategically and connect dots for business leaders that might not be obvious.

  • Be able to synthesise discussions both in the moment and retrospectively to demonstrate engagement and understanding.

  • Place discussions in business context to help build trust, engagement and advocacy.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with people throughout the hierarchy and specifically with senior colleagues who may not have technical knowledge.

  • Be able to guide, coach and mentor Digital Business Partners at al stages of career development.

Experience

Essential

  • 3+ years experience in business partnering, business analysis or strategic consulting

  • Experience working strategically with business leaders in creating a Business Partnering capability.

  • Experience building and maintaining strategic relationships with multiple partner groups across projects, including senior business leaders.

  • Project management experience

  • MS Office suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Experience with project management tools such as Monday.com, Atlassian etc.

Qualifications:
