Job summary

A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced ARTP accredited physiologist or nurse to help support spirometry training in the community. The role will entail working across East Staffordshire to help support primary care staff gain the ARTP certificate in spirometry and interpretation. You must have extensive experience in performing and interpreting spirometry, as well as overseeing others.

This is an opportunity to project manage and develop a rolling program to support multiple members of staff in the community gain the professional qualification. There would be an expectation to travel between sites in the East Staffordshire area as well as utilising clinic space at the newly developed community diagnostic centre at Sir Robert Peel Hospital in Tamworth.

The role will include delivering spirometry theory and practical training sessions in different settings. Developing troubleshooting workshops, performing audit and quality assurance. Providing support to individuals who are working through the ARTP spirometry certificate, proof-reading portfolios and offering advice.

This is the chance to make a real impact on the quality of spirometry performed in the community and kick start the re-delivery of spirometry services post Covid. You will be expected to liaise with a range of professionals from primary care and integrated care boards to develop a successful training network to help improve standards within the community.

Main duties of the job

Lead on spirometry training in the community Develop and provide a training programme to support staff members going through the ARTP certificate Teach, observe and assess competence in spirometry testing Develop troubleshooting and interpretation workshops Liaise with integrated care boards, primary care networks to establish a training network Provide expert technical advice and support to community staff Work independently whilst keeping key stakeholders informed of progress There is opportunity to work within the Clinical Measurement Department on occasion to maintain more advanced clinical skills There is an expectation to have/develop familiarity with the ARTP spirometry certificate, including portfolio and assessment as this is an essential part of the role.
